Freedom of speech is the foundation of every free society. It is the right that allows Australians to question those in power, challenge ideas, and speak openly without fear of government censorship.
Yet across Australia, governments have expanded restrictions on political expression and handed themselves greater powers over what Australians can say. Freedoms are rarely taken all at once — they are eroded gradually, one law at a time.
On 30 August, Australians will come together in Brisbane to defend one simple principle: in a democracy, no government should decide which political opinions are acceptable.
For Free Speech. For Australia.
